Deerhunter is a part of the Danish company F. Engel K/S, a family-owned concern founded in 1927 and currently managed by the fourth generation. Deerhunter was established in 1985 as a direct result of the Engel family’s passion for hunting and outdoor pursuits.
Our vision is to develop and manufacture clothing for modern hunters and outdoor individualists for whom freedom of movement and high-technical quality is of vital importance. F. Engel has grown every year for the past twenty years and successively added to its collections. Today Deerhunter offers a comprehensive range of clothing for hunting and outdoor pursuits. The Deerhunter concept has stood the test of time. Deerhunter is now represented in more than 30 countries across the world, and has earned a solid reputation as the brand of choice when it comes to comfortable and functional high-quality, high-technological clothing. The original Deerhunter concept remains unchanged – Deerhunter is a brand that always makes customers feel that they are getting good value for money.
The F. Engel main office is located at Haderslev in southern Denmark, and employs 150 people. The group also has two factories in Lithuania, employing a total of 570 seamstresses. In addition to Deerhunter, F Engel also manufactures a number of well-known brands: WorkZone and FE Engel workwear, Shellbrook, DXO and Sunwill men’s trousers.
Deerhunter hunting clothing
It is a little known fact that some of the most trendy and high-tech hunting clothes are created in Denmark. During the last two decades F. Engel in Haderslev has increasingly built up a wider and more advanced range of products where keywords are comfort and functionality.
Clothing for hunting as well as leisure wear can easily be compared to work wear. The decisive point is to focus on the needs of the customer in every thinkable situation. And especially work wear is exactly what F. Engel has produced since 1927. The expertise from the work wear production together with the Engel family's passion for hunting, has led into the brand name Deerhunter offering second to none quality.
Deerhunter in the year 1985
Hunting has always been an important part of life for the Engel family and in 1985 it formed the basis of Deerhunter – clothing for hunting. This way the pleasure of hunting and spending time in nature started the trend and eventually the production of their own hunting clothing. Deerhunter is hunting clothing made with care. – designed for all types of hunting in all kinds of weather. A high technical quality is a must for this type of clothing. Movement is the key word and the goal is to create an exceptional product in which fit and design are integrated thus becoming a natural part of hunting and leisure.
The Trend
The Deerhunter brand has developed step by step increasing the production accordingly. In recent years exports especially to Europe and the Eastern countries have grown.
While many textile manufacturers have gone abroad concerning both production and administration, F. Engel has decided to stay in Denmark. 80% of the Deerhunter production is destined for exportation and the production is partly taking part in 2 new factories in Lithuania where more than 400 employees are making both work wear and hunting clothing. Part of the production is also taking place in the Far East and the company located in Haderslev is currently cooperating on the 19th consecutive year with the same supplier. In Haderslev 150 persons are employed and recently F. Engel has opened F. Engel GmbH in Hamburg.
